Ensemble Programs

Rock Stars In The Making!

UNIT OUTLINE:

Overview:

This Program is designed to enable students to actively participate in an ensemble through actively listening, comprehending what is heard and responding through playing their chosen instrument (Vocal, Guitar, Bass, Drums or Keyboard). Lessons are presented with an element of “play” helping the children learn at their own level of understanding.  It is an approach to which all may contribute and experience success. The social value of group music making is reinforced in this approach, as is the importance of individual creative contributions. This approach fosters holistic interconnected learning in music and develops higher order thinking.

Key learning areas to life-long learning:

•     Active listener and responder in music.

•     A complex thinker, creator and investigator.

•     An effective communicator.

•     Awareness of self and others in music performance.

•     A reflective and self-directed learner.

•     A participant in an interdependent world.

Lesson/ General Requirements:

•     Students are required to attend each scheduled lesson as absences affect the group rehearsal.

•     Students must come to the lesson prepared for learning and have all required materials including Homework Book, any given music sheets, a pencil to write notes, and instrument if they are bringing their own.
